About Josephine Ma

“

Solicitor · Mediator · Mediation Trainer

“Mediation is a lifestyle.”

Josephine Ma combines legal expertise with a thoughtful understanding of people, relationships and the complexities of conflict. A Hong Kong practising solicitor since 1995 and an accredited mediator since 2004, she brings over two decades of mediation experience to family, commercial, family business, inheritance and cross-border disputes. As an Accredited Family Mediation Supervisor and Vice Chairperson of the Hong Kong Mediation Council, she is committed to helping parties navigate difficult conversations and work towards practical, lasting resolutions. Her postgraduate studies in law, Buddhist studies, and family counselling and family education inform an approach that is both rigorous and compassionate, with mediation strategies tailored to the circumstances of each case.

Equally dedicated to developing the skills of others, Josephine has trained more than 1,000 professionals across Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland China in mediation and negotiation. She teaches mediator accreditation courses, serves as an accreditation assessor, and is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, teaching generational dynamics in family businesses. Drawing on extensive practice and a breadth of mediation approaches, she connects theory with the realities of conflict, helping learners develop sound judgement, confidence and sensitivity. Through her mediation practice, professional training and longstanding commitment to school peer mediation, Josephine seeks to make constructive dialogue not only a means of resolving disputes, but a way of everyday life.
